Forest Lake

View of Forest Lake, the 468 acre lake in Land O'Lakes, Wisconsin
Forest Lake is a really nice lake located about ten minutes west of Land O'Lakes. The lake has many nice homes and many have a classic Northwoods feel to them. I would say it has a vintage vibe. The water clarity is remarkable (over 30 feet) and the water has a nice aqua-like color to it. The 6.2 mile shoreline around the lake is covered with a nice variety of hard and soft woods, and the houses are pretty spread out. The lake is somewhat isolated yet has good high speed internet. Forest Lake ranks as one of my favorite lakes. There are some "legacy" properties on the lake with a lot of frontage which keeps the owner per mile number around 14. There are over 5 acres of water per owner. When the water is high the boat launch can be difficult. This mid-sized, clear-water lake about ten minutes west of Land O' Lakes has a shoreline that mixes older Northwoods cabins and thoughtfully updated homes. The water often has a striking aqua tint and clarity readings over 30 feet, and the 6-plus miles of shoreline are lined with a mix of hardwoods and evergreens that feel more secluded than dense resort strips. Legacy properties with larger frontages help keep the number of owners per mile relatively low—around 14—giving the lake a relaxed, established character. Water clarity readings topping 30 feet and an appealing aqua tint give the lake a vivid look on sunny days, and the mix of hardwood and conifer shoreline keeps vistas interesting. The atmosphere is more "classic cabin lake" than destination resort, making it especially attractive for long-term family ownership and buyers who want a scenic, swimmable lake with a calmer pace. This is a summary based on available information.

Forest Lake supports a multi‑species fishery typical of clear Northwoods lakes, with panfish, bass, and pike likely making up much of the action. The combination of clear water and fairly spread‑out development means fish use deeper structure and weed edges heavily, especially during bright, calm weather. Anglers often do best by focusing on low‑light periods or overcast days and targeting breaks, points, and mid‑depth cover rather than very shallow water in the middle of the day.
