Turtle Flambeau Flowage
Turtle Flambeau Flowage is a 12,942-acre flowage in Iron County with a maximum depth of 50 feet, created in 1926 by damming the Flambeau River. The reservoir flooded 16 natural lakes and now offers over 14,000 acres of water, roughly 180–227 miles of mostly undeveloped shoreline, and nearly 200 islands. Its diverse habitats support musky, walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, sturgeon, and panfish, making it one of Wisconsin’s premier fishing destinations. Numerous public landings, primitive boat-in campsites, and surrounding public lands create a large-scale wilderness-style boating and camping experience.
