Lake Laura

View of Lake Laura, the 628 acre lake in St. Germain, Wisconsin
If you are really looking to get away from the race and want to escape to a place with beautiful, clear water, Laura Lake should be on the short list. The lake has a pretty isolated location, a lot of state land and there are not too many homes on its shores. There are no high traffic roads around the lake either, so you get some true Northwoods peace and quiet when you live on Lake Laura. The water levels do fluctuate quite a bit which exposes a nice sand shoreline when the water is down. There are some dirt roads that service that lake which make access a little trickier. The water clarity is over 15 feet and the water has a pretty awesome color to it. With the limited number of homes on the lake, the density numbers are really good. There are only 7.5 owners per mile of shoreline and over 17 acres of water per owner. For more information on Lake Laura you can check out my Blog Post.

Times are approximate. I just took a rough average from different points around the lake.

This is a summary based on available information.

Clear water and modest development support a healthy mix of panfish, bass, pike, and likely walleyes, with fish concentrating around structure and weed edges. The exceptional quiet and limited pressure can make the fish a bit less conditioned, but the clear water still rewards subtle presentations and careful boat control. Early and late in the day, as well as breezy or overcast periods, often produce the best action, especially for walleyes and larger pike sliding shallower. For cabin owners, Lake Laura fishes like a classic retreat lake where learning a handful of key spots pays off season after season.
